  • Who needs a budget? YNAB!

    By briandaldridge
I have been using YNAB since it was a humble spreadsheet and it has been a life-changer. I hope they can continue to build and refine their product, and that more people will discover the power of this tool (tell your friends that YNAB is the best bugeting tool put there!)
  • I took back control

    By Krisj328
This app and it's online software is overly confusing at first - I almost threw in the towel. After watching an hour or two of videos and getting a grasp on what giant I was dealing with, I realized how happy I was to stick with it. This system has given me such a peace of mind and control over my money! Knowing where every dollar goes is comforting rather than scratching my head on how I blew thru my paycheck so fast!
  • This app saved my financial security

I have always budgeted! BUT.... I never really budgeted until I had your app! My budgets never worked because life happens. This has made it so I put the does it before they happen not after they burned the budget down! Thanks, my only wish is to be able to reconcile on the mobile app!
  • Date

For those of us that get paid once monthly, it would be great if the budget date could be changed. I get paid on the 25th if the month so starting on that date for the next month would be very helpful.
  • Can't search or sort transactions or Budget categories? Really??

    By dtoyd
When will YNAB add the most basic and useful feature: SEARCHING my transactions or budget categories? Whether a key word, amount or range of amounts, my bank beats the crap out of YNAB, and.I don't pay anything for that privilege. Come on YNAB! And another, bigger PRIVACY problem that just happened to me... App shouldn't default to sending my budget data along with support requests. This is very PERSONAL info and I just sent it, by accident, because the box to send my data is checked by default. Amazon orders: This could be the reason we stop using YNAB. As of now there's always a backlog of Amazon orders that my wife hasn't categorized/split etc--which means we rarely have an up-to-date picture of our budget categories. Obviously this could be seen as a human-error kind of problem ("it's her fault") but I'm just saying it's a major pain point for us and I'm sure many many others. This could be automated at least via imports since Amazon allows exports of order history. From the YNAB forum posts I saw, though, it seems that the answer from YNAB is "sorry! That's kinda hard! Can't be bothered!" which sounds to me like the response of a current market leader that will not stay a market leader.
  • Best budgeting app! 5 Stars

    By Stormstruck_44
I’ve tried a bunch of different budgeting apps over the years... like all of them. I was originally turned off because of the price, I wanted it to be free, but sometimes you get what you pay for. It took me a year before I tried it. I never should have waited! Try it if the full 34 day free period. Seriously! It takes a bit to get the hang of because it’s a little different in theory but within your first pay cycle you’ll understand it. Give yourself a month and it becomes very intuitive. I look back at my other apps and they were bulky and difficult. This is streamlined and simple. I’m loving this app!
  • Saved us so much for years

    By TheThrist
I can say so many great things about YNAB and how helpful it’s been for our family’s budget. The iPad app especially is easy to use, customer service is human and always friendly, and there’s a helpful community at your finger tips if you have questions. The app itself is so much better than the one on a phone. It’s easier to add accounts, move money from category to category, and budget month to month. I only gave it four stars because it’s missing two incredibly important features that the web app has: searching and reports. If you want to look at say, how much you spent at Starbucks for the year, you can’t search at all on the app. This is a really basic feature and not having it on here is especially frustrating (you can’t access the web app through Chrome on the iPad either, it automatically redirects you to the iPad app). Since there’s a yearly cost to use the program I’d expect the app and web app to have identical features.
  • Does not update in real time

    By rob har
Doesn’t update to your linked accounts in real time so it makes it very confusing when trying to budget in real time. Also, the way they handle credit card accounts is absolutely confusing. They don’t show as a debt (which it need to be paid back so it should, yes?) it shows as a positive and just messes everything up. It’s nice that it links to all of your accounts so ideally you have a gross amount of your money, but it doesn’t translate that easily.
  • Takes Way Too Long to Update

    By newking83
I think the premise behind YNAB is great and I was eager to try it out. My problem with the app is that it just takes way too long to update. I got paid last Thursday and was excited to start the new month with a new budget. But my paycheck didn’t show on the app until Saturday, almost a full 48 hours after I actually got paid. The app also wants you to allocate EVERY dollar that shows, including income, which can be difficult to figure out. I clearly classified something wrong because the amount remaining the be budgeted was way off so I “started fresh” with a new budget. I did that Saturday and as of Tuesday at 5pm, my accounts and transactions still have not updated 😡. I really want to love this app and use it, but it’s got to update more frequently in order for it to actually be effective. It doesn’t help to create a budget AFTER you’ve already paid your bills 😕
  • Love this app, but one thing missing

    By AustinSego
YNAB is an excellent platform for budgeting. The one thing I wish the app had, though, was an extra layer of authentication (i.e passcode, password and/or Touch ID to open app) If I happen to leave my phone sitting around unlocked — an unlikely scenario, but still possible — I don’t want someone to be able to just open YNAB and look through my transactions and other financial info. Every other financially-related app I have has this feature. I don’t understand why YNAB doesn’t. Seems like a pretty easy thing to integrate.
