The powerful combination of award-winning apps and a proven method—YNAB’s Four Rules—has changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people by teaching them to get control of their finances, stop stressing, and live the life they want to live. A Proven Method—YNAB’s Four Rules Rule One: Give Every Dollar A Job | Be intentional about what you want your money to do before you spend it. Rule Two: Embrace Your True Expenses | Break up larger, less frequent expenses into smaller, manageable amounts. By saving monthly for insurance premiums, holidays, or car repairs, when the time comes, your money is ready and waiting to do its job. Rule Three: Roll With The Punches | When life changes, so must your budget. Make adjustments and move along. Flexible budgets succeed because they’re guilt-free, realistic, and sustainable. Rule Four: Age Your Money | As you repeat the first three rules, you’ll increase the time between earning a dollar and the moment you need to spend it. When your money is at least a month old, you’ll have finally broken the paycheck to paycheck cycle for good. This app is the backbone of my financial strategy. It has made me more aware and in control of my finances than any other app I’ve used, and I’ve tried all the other big players. It helped me shift from living off my credit cards every month to get rid of the credit card debt and live within a real budget. Get it.
  • Good app, but with a suggestion

This is a solid app, nice job. As an avid iPad Pro user, I’d really like to see split screen support. Currently, you can only blow this app up full screen. It doesn’t play nicely with other apps. That would be great if you could bring this feature onto the roadmap.

Once you commit to YNAB, consider yourself financially free. Those who think it cannot be, do not trust themselves.

Everyone needs YNAB!!! I love it.
  • Irresponsible Security / Major Risk

It’s 2019 and YNAB still doesn’t have two factor authentication. It’s incomprehensible that an app that contains the total of all my accounts and finances, doesn’t have two factor authentication. They state that you can use your Google Login to provide more security, but even if that is enabled you can still use an email address and password that isn’t your Google login. It quite literally doesn’t provide any additional security.

    1. Just read their private policy (they share way too much with third parties 2. Like other reviewers have said, this app has too much of a learning curve 3. Way too expensive
  • I recommend it to anyone I meet

  • Best Budget App

I have been using this app for two years and it has helped me so much! I got the app when I decided to go back to school for a graduate certificate and I didn't want to pull out any more loans. Two years later I got my graduate certificate, I paid it all in cash, I paid down some of my debt, I saved for future expenses, and I have never felt so in control when it comes to money and finances. I recommend it to my mom and now she's been able to pay down consumer debt. I highly recommend this app.
  • Careful before you buy- good for single account low transactions

This app seemingly is good for someone with one or two accounts and a level of transactions that they are comfortable going through all the time and comparing with YNAB Vs your account ledger. IMO, this app is an electronic way to balance a check book, nothing more. I made the mistake of adding all of my cash accounts and credit card accounts since I liked the function of credit card spend automatically going to your budget. However, the transferring around of money from one account to the other when paying is a nightmare in how it affects your “budget” on the application. Additionally, the auto function of reconciling accounts never works and my accounts were inaccurate most of the time. Another big problem with multiple accounts and banks is there is always connection issues that are blamed on the bank yet I ran mint along side and never had issues with Mint on same accounts. 30 day trial is NOT long enough for you to realize all the issues you will have with this application. Apple will NOT refund your $90 and YNAB will point you back to Apple. Be very careful on this tool, Mint is far better in every aspect and doesn’t cost you a dime.

With YNAB, we have been able to pay off $67,000 + in debt! This system really helps make budgeting a piece of cake. It takes some trial and error at first, but it’s totally worth it. We feel in control of our money, and I love how easy it is to “roll with the punches”! Thanks, YNAB!
