WeatherSpork App Description

WeatherSpork is the strategic all-purpose weather planning application for aviators at all experience levels that will nicely complement the flight planning app(s) you normally use in the cockpit. WeatherSpork offers an inexpensive multi-faceted approach to uniquely blend online weather guidance along with aviation weather education. This includes - 1) Visualization tools such as a Meteogram, a vertical depiction of the weather over the next three days at an airport. 2) The Route Profile view is also a vertical depiction that lets you quickly see the impact of wind and hazardous weather along your proposed route of flight. 3) The Grid view coupled with the "Wheels Up Departure Advisor" lets you choose the most favorable time to fly. WeatherSpork requires a current avwxworkshops.com annual subscription. WeatherSpork provides fairly comprehensive weather guidance, but only provides supplemental weather information to pilots and is not a substitute for a standard weather briefing as described in FAA Advisory Circular 00-45H Change 1 (https://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/Advisory_Circular/AC_00-45H_Chg_1.pdf). WeatherSpork is only accessible in the U.S. mainland, but look for Alaska and Hawaii to be added soon.

  • The missing link in GA WX planning

Title says it all. Go get a subscription. I first heard about WeatherSpork from Max Trescott’s Aviation News Talk Podcast at AirVenture 2018 then met Scott and heard his talk at the Cirrus Owners and Operators Association Migration 16 in Las Vegas. It’s really good stuff. It’s the app for the pilot that is both the wx expert and the pilot that just wants to be shown when is the best time to go. I really like that it graphically shows you across the entire route what you’ll expect. Easy decision making about altitudes for higher performance aircraft. Great app. I’m sure the new releases will make it even easier to use. Thanks, Scott!
  • A great weather tool for any pilot

When it comes to weather every pilot knows having the right information could be the difference between a go no go decision or even possibly your life if you make the wrong call and find yourself unprepared. For anyone who isn’t a fan of decoding METARS, SIGMETS, AIRMETS, etc. and this Apple definitely Eden giving you multiple visual representations of the current weather as well as the weather along your route. I use this app on a daily basis as part of my preflight brief to give me visual confirmation of the brief I get from 1800wxbrief.

Please disclose UPFRONT the very expensive subscription fees. It’s an ethical issue.

This app is great. I use ForeFlight for flight planning but this is an extremely useful weather companion to help bring together all weather sources into a user friendly interface for determining best departure times and routes.

NOT COOL! The app description does not disclose that a very expensive subscription ($80-120/yr.) is required to use it. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

This App is simply amazing. Takes all of the information available regarding aviation weather, which is often times hard to understand, and puts in a simple easy to understand manner. As a pilot with more than 800 hours, weather understanding and simplification is something that I had struggled with throughout the years. This APP makes it easy to understand and helps tremendously plan your trip. Please do not think about twice and get it. You will be grateful that you did!
  • Profile view priceless

This app has a profile view that covers forecasts or a route that is my go to app for planning and the whole reason i bought the app. Shows cloud levels, freezing, winds etc in such an intuitive and powerful design that it’s cut down my planning process by at least half. No more sorting through metars and Tafs or clicking endlessly on foreflight, or needing to look through skewts

WeatherSpork has become my favorite go to resource to prepare for a crosscountry flight. Comprehensive, exhaustive and so easy to visualize. Outstanding!

I use many aviation weather websites and apps, but I have to say that WeatherSpork is the most comprehensive and, in many ways, the easiest-to-use tool for this very important task. It brings together so many important weather products in a logically-organized manner, and features excellent meteogram and flight profile tools that really help visualize the weather you can expect during the course of a flight. Yes, you have to sign up with AvWxWorkshops to use it. It’s well worth it to do so, even if it is only to use this app. Highly-recommended.
