App Reviews

  • Please Do Not Purchase!

I cannot promote an app that lacks support. This developer (a self proclaimed businessman) is rude and condescending. When I write in asking for support for problems I’m experiencing (and there have been many) all you get is condescension and empty statements alluding to the fact that the answers are right on his website, and that “everything works perfectly” and that “it works for everyone else.” Based on the reviews I’m reading, the app is full of problems and isn’t working for everyone else. When I pushed him for real support, the response from the owner was that he only charged $4 for the app which isn’t a lot of money and he doesn’t get paid for his time to support every little issue. I was flabbergasted! I’ve supported this app since my iPhone 3GS. I’ve bought the app again every time it’s changed ownership. I would probably buy it again if the newest version was fixed and had a reliable, respectful owner. The problem is, this software hasn’t had a reliable owner since it’s founder - Hardy Marcia. The new owners come in looking to make a quick buck, don’t support the app and then flee. This owner hasn’t provided a single update in at least 9 months. He answers support requests with the same lack of support every time and is incredibly rude and condescending. He says he’s working on a “new version”, but refuses to share any semblance of a roadmap. As a user of an important (and daily used) app such as a finance tracking app this is purgatory. This is an app that has bugs, offers zero and I mean ZERO support (and I don’t care what the developer says). Just read through the reviews and you’ll see a pattern. I get that there are issues importing data when ownership changes. All I want to do is export my data so I can leave and take it with me. Export options don’t feel reliable though and there’s no way to test it without risk of losing all of your data. iCloud doesn’t work. Dropbox sync doesn’t work as it won’t let me connect. Export options give UTF error messages. Im not about to export over 10 years of data, erase the app, reinstall it and hope that importing my data back in will work. There really was nothing better than the original PocketMoney, but this is no longer that app and this latest owner is a disgrace. My advice: stay far, far, far away.
  • Great app - used for years. Need my Graphs Back!

I’ve been tracking my finances for years with this app. Very helpful in years past to be able to run Reports on all my transactions. I had some moments of panic when I needed to upgrade/purchase the latest edition this year. The new program worked the same until this week when the Graphs/Reports at the top of the accounts screen disappeared. I need that again for taxes this year . . . Could I get that back?!?
  • Awful service

So someone else buys the company tells customers nothing at all. My iphone crashes and I restore from my backup on Itunes. Loose everything because the pocket money 2 was taken down from the server. I open a support ticket they closed it and said nothing no answer as to how to recover no phone to call for help. Time to move on and let everyone know how bad PM is now.
  • Best finance app

I’ve been using this app since 2002! Yes, the iPhone came out in 2007, and I’ve been using this app since it was on the Palm Pilot. It is by far the best financial tracking app you can get for tracking personal expenses. I can honestly say it has allowed me to have a life of financial responsibility. Knowing how much money you have, down to the penny, is an invaluable tool.
  • Great App but....

Generally a good app but with a rather poor record of updates and moving along with the rest of the world. The app is NOT compatible with MacOS Mojave which has pretty much been in the market since mid 2018. This app will not longer sync!!! Please do something!
  • Old school

Been using this app along with the Mac OS version for over 2 years now. I looked at dozens of programs for over a year for a replacement to my aged MS Money program. This did the trick...I can input and sync data between my iPhone, iPad and iMac. (iMac version stopped working after the Mojave update, program not 64bit yet) When I get a spending alert on my phone...I update my data on the spot..no more forgotten entries to my account logs. I like the ability to input budgets and organize my spending too. It can be used as a simple check register program or a full tracking full budgeting program. Response to people having problem with upgrades: I went thru the transition from PM1 to PM2 to PM GT with no problems. I was very careful to follow all the instructions provided. My Mac version stopped working when I upgraded to the latest Mac OS X Mojave version....no big deal...will wait for latest version. The website site tells you this.....but I upgraded my Mac without checking...my bad
  • NO AUTOSYNC! Was promised 3 years ago.

This product needs AUTOSYNC. Autosync was developed, beta-tested, and then abruptly dropped when current ownership took over. Many users wanted it and liked the beta version and complained of the abandonment, but to no avail. It is a tedious, time-consuming process to manually sync the product for backup. And heavy users are continually at risk if a backup wasn't performed and their hardware fails. PocketMoney is a good and flexible financial app. It beats other top money managers like Money Wiz, iCompta, Banktivity and See Finance for ease of use and features. Unfortunately support is very poor: - Communication among users is not provided, so simple questions from new users cannot be answered, and seasoned users can't share tips. - Future product plans are not provided, so the user base is left wondering if product development has been abandoned. - Maintenance releases have stopped, so user suggestions for minor improvements are not being addressed - Promised new instructional resources have not materialized, so the support page statement is erroneous and the user must rely on decades-old and possibly incorrect materials. - User input through the ticket-submission page is sometimes ignored or haughtily dismissed. I am changing this rating to the minimum one star because of the developer's cessation of product updates, failure to produce updated reference materials, and the poor or non-existant communication with users.
  • Needs to be updated for XR

Bottom entry not showing on XR. Also crashes after it posts a recurring item (on XR). Longtime user of PocketMoney, since 2000 (Palm), they just need to update it for the latest iPhone models.
  • PocketMoney is back!!!!!!!

Thank you for bringing back PocketMoney. I never thought I would see this wonderful app again. Would love to see autocomplete work for subcategory without having to type in the parent category and then the colon. Of course this would require that no two categories be named the same thing and that the software may have to analyze and reject any action that would attempt to create two categories that have the same name. For example, Utilities:Gas would need changed to Utilities:Natural Gas to avoid confusion if someone creates a transaction with the category of Gas meaning Gasoline. This feature is needed not only for ease of use but also to avoid confusion and mis-categorization. As it is, if someone creates a transaction with the category of Gas meaning Natural Gas it will not categorize under Utilities:Gas as they might have expected it to, but will create a new category called Gas.
