Hallow: Catholic Meditation App Description

Hallow offers guided prayer and meditation sessions to help us grow in our faith lives and find peace and stillness in God. Explore contemplative prayer and meditation sessions across: * Christian Meditation: finding peace in silence and imaginative prayer leveraging Catholic mindfulness practices * Examen: reflecting on your day and discovering an awareness of God in the present moment * Lectio Divina: entering into a conversation with God through scripture * Spiritual Writing: journaling with God, listening to Him, and sharing with Him what’s on your mind and heart * Taizé and Chant Meditation: meditative chant and singing with God * Rosary: meditating with Mary through the mysteries of the Rosary Today’s world is stressful, busy, hectic, and full of distractions. Society puts an insane amount of pressure on us and there seems to be a constantly increasing expectation to work harder, study more, respond faster, and perform better. At the same point in time, we’re increasingly searching for meaning, fulfillment, purpose, and growth within our spiritual lives. We believe these two challenges can be addressed with the same solution. Namely, through deepening our relationship with God and growing in Christian mindfulness. By allowing Him into our day-to-day lives and stresses, we let Him share with us His peace, joy and fulfillment. WHAT YOU GET Hallow’s intuitive, convenient and personalized experience begins with a 9-day introduction that guides you step-by-step through three different methods of prayer. After this, it’s up to you to choose from our collection of over 200 sessions across three different sections: Dailies: Daily prayers across methods including Christian Meditation, Lectio Divina, the Rosary, Spiritual Writing, and the Examen. Praylists: Sessions across a variety of prayer methods, all centered on one particular theme e.g., joy, humility, making decisions, calm, letting go. Challenges: Prayers usually focused on re-discovering the beauty within traditional prayers for example: the Our Father, Stations of the Cross, and Advent. In addition to the above sections, Hallow offers a number of features to help users customize their prayer experience: * Journal for users to capture their thoughts after every prayer * Choice between male and female guides * Options for 3 different lengths for every prayer (typically 5, 10, or 15 minutes) * Ability to set prayer reminders * Option to include calming background music in any session * Ability to download sessions for offline listening All of our content is developed by experience Catholic theology and spirituality guides and reviewed by senior leaders within the Church (e.g., PhD’s, professors, Bishops, authors). I’m trying to open the app so I can sign up for the free trial before the offer ends, but as soon as I open the app it crashes after one second.

As someone who has done headspace for years, I was so happy when I saw this app. The goal of the mediation is to connect with God, and this app will transform your life

  • Beginning prayer life? Desiring to deepen prayer life?

Hallow is a wonderful starting point for those especially beginning prayer and meditation. At first, mental prayer may be challenging and may even seem daunting... Is there a formal method of praying with Scripture? How do we prepare ourselves for and begin prayer? How do we *truly* pray so that prayer bears fruit in our life? Thankfully, our answers can be found in our rich trove of Catholic prayer tradition. This is where Hallow comes in as a helpful tool by providing us a with a guide and structure in our prayer, and by exposing us to different forms and time-tested means of mental prayer. Or, feeling down and hoping to re-ground ourselves on gratitude and God’s goodness? Needing to make a decision and discern God’s will? Hallow has different prayer session topics/focuses that would suit our daily needs, which is very unique and helpful. It is also educational as you learn about what Christian hope and love are (amongst others) in the process of prayer through the guiding questions. I imagine and definitely foresee my incorporating this app into the formation of my high school youth in sacramental preparation, especially as a reinforcement and as a guide to praying by themselves at home. I definitely would recommend this app to any one hoping to deepen their prayer life through meditation. Overall, I wholeheartedly believe that every serious Christian who wants to deepen their prayer life and do God’s will must practice mental prayer, so thank you, Hallow for introducing us to mental prayer! I’ve been trying for a while now to be more intentional about my day-to-day balance. I love, love, love how easy Hallow makes it to pause, reflect, and just get some breathing room away from the daily distractions. A few minutes invested into taking a broader and more purposeful approach to life makes all the difference!

Ive only experienced the introduction to Hallow but this short time of quiet and peace has made me hungry for more. To encounter God, and to sense His presence is what called me to do this program. I have been so distracted at prayer that I yearned for a conversion of heart and mind. I believe that Hallow will be my grateful pathway to deeper prayer.

I am a practicing Catholic and this app is consistently a pathway to Jesus and to true rest. Amongst a world where everyone and everything is competing for our attention, this app has provided a quiet please to hear God’s voice.

Hallow is just what my prayer life needed! I have incorporated the prayers and meditations into my daily prayer routine! I am very distractible so I love the options on how long the experiences are! I love that I can take a walk and pray the rosary and am led through! We have also used some of the meditations with my small women’s sharing group. My sisters in Christ love it! It’s super easy to use and they are updating information often! A+++!
  • Perfect for guided reflection

    By weecyff
As someone who was raised Catholic but identifies as not particularly religious, I was curious about Hallow and how different it would be from meditation apps I’ve used in the past. What really differentiates Hallow from Insight Timer and Headspace is that it has been (at least for me) more like guided introspection than guided meditation... it creates space for both stillness and personal growth. Examens are my favorite, maybe because they seem less about one’s relationship with God than the guided prayers. They’re great for reflection at the end of the day. The customization options for voice, length, background music, level of guidance are great touches. I highly recommend Hallow - for both devoted Christians and people just curious about getting back into prayer or spiritual reflection.
  • Time alone with God

Hallow introduces me to forms of prayer I really needed in my life. In a world filled with noise, it’s really a blessing to sit still and meditate in silence with God. Highly recommend for anyone interested in deepening their faith and growing closer to God.
