App Reviews

  • Nope ...

This is not an improvement; it’s worse than the previous version. What were they thinking?
  • New App is Too Cluttered

I prefer the old NY Times app to the new one. It is less cluttered and stories are easier to find. Instead, in the new app I am bombarded with too much information on the screen at one time. I will continue to use the old app for as long as I can. WARNING!!! Most of the high ratings and the older reviews are for the old app, not this one.
  • Autoplaying sound ads for subscribers?!!

Paying nytimes subscriber and the iPhone app now plays ads with sound without clicking on the ad. Seriously? :|
  • New version/messy layout

New layout in this version of app is visually unappealing. Messy. Including Save and Comment functions with each story detracts from the content, which is the reason to subscribe.
  • Takes forever

If I actually want to READ an article, the new app takes FOREVER to load it, making it useless. Why fix something that (mostly) wasn't broken??
  • New updated app

The new version, compared with the previous one, is so inferior and much more difficult to navigate. It begs the question of why was the last version so terrible. If it were not for the fact that this is The New York Times, I would disable.
  • Hate It! The Worst!

The original app was and is far superior. Fire the idiots who thought this was an improvement, clearly they are incompetent. The Gray Lady is blushing at what you’ve done to tart her up. The NYT should never have been made into this trollop.
  • New app is a bummer

I’m not sure who thought that not putting the editorial journalists names next to the headline in the opinion section was a good idea. The previous apps iteration was very clean and easy to navigate. This one feels like it’s trying to hard to be like many other news apps that simply feel cluttered. Bitterly disappointed
  • Scroll scroll scroll scroll

I come to the NYT to read news, not giant photos. Big step backward. And what’s with the save and send icons on EVERY Story’s headline. I think most people want to at least start reading a story before deciding to save or send it. Don’t you? Way too much white space. Can’t wait for the next version... how about the last version!
  • Sigh

I guess , after 85 years of the Grey Lady, and all the news that’s fit to print, I fear that my favorite paper is but a sagging shadow of its former self. More of a women’s magazine than a national newspaper of record. I’m sad, but I quit. Farewell.
