App Reviews

  • So many ads

    By Mrsqueuey
Immediately unsubscribed after realizing how many ads I would have to go through to read a single article. Reduce the ads and I’ll resubscribe.
  • Oops

The Todays Paper section no longer works. It doesn't load.
  • App often unresponsive and barely functional

    By MM_SF
The app needs to deliver the news that I pay for with my subscription. It used to do that, effortlessly downloading and caching articles that I could read on my flights, etc. Now it's just a mess, horrifically slow and seemingly reaching back to the server at every tap. Please bring back the basic functionality!
  • This app continues to stall and was ur time

    By Phishface12345
I am not sure how any reasonable person can give this app more than 1 star . It deserves .25 of a star for effort . One only need to try the WaPo app or Politico to see how it is done correctly . Every time a new ad scrolls into view the app stalls indefinitely. It is so frustrating that it is near impossible to get through an article. I continue to receive updates but nothing fixes the poor quality of the app. Excellent articles don’t make up for the gross negligence of pawning this off as something useful.
  • PLEASE ADD A “Go to Top” button

    By Avg. showgirl
I read the NYT every day through the mobile app. And I love the content of the publication. But for the love of all that is newsworthy, please add a “Go to Top” button like you see on online shopping pages. It makes so much logical sense if you expect your readers to scroll all the way to the bottom to read in the Top Stories section. When you reopen the app after going to another one, it sticks to the bottom of the page. I have to manually scroll up every time I want to refresh the page. Get it together UX designers!
  • Good content, poor unoptimized app for iPad

    By vnvm
This app needs a number of updates for the modern iPad- better use of space so that content fills the screen, ability to zoom in and out of text rather than a fixed font size, ability to select ability to perform offline sync of articles to read later for subscribers, and other innovations that are already found on competing newspapers’ apps. At the moment, using the website is much better than using the app. I plan on cancelling my subscription if things don’t get better.
  • Prioritizes ads over user experience

    By kccnyc
This app is, in a word, frustrating. No double-tap to zoom in on sections. No ability to pinch-zoom photos to see them in more detail. And it’s clear what the reasoning behind this limitation is: preventing the user from zooming in a way that might move an ad off the screen. Just really sad that the paper of record, while charging hundreds of dollars to its subscribers, has made its app progressively more hostile to those of us with visual impairments. Thanks, NYTimes!
  • Terrible App

All about Trump. Doesn’t anything else happen besides politics?
  • New York Times update

    By Samijosh
Every since I foolishly updated your app it either refuses to load or crashes immediately thereafter. Over and over. Getting to be a waste of time and energy.
  • CONSTANT accidental ad clicks

    By lanewinfield
You guys are killing me, not with the number of ads (I understand why you have them), but how sensitive they are to tapping. I hit at least one ad a minute completely accidentally and it's driving me insane. Please, for the love of the gray lady, fix it!
