I love this it is so fun
  • Why are they charging the ones who create them?

    By Whitney aka Girlzzzz
Geocaches are created and maintained by US. How dare you charge us $10 initially for the app and now try and charge us a monthly fee. This is absurd.

Something for everyone in the family to do anytime...anywhere
  • Terrible app

Been a member since 2005 and introduced hundreds of people around the world to geocaching. Myself and many of those refuse to geocache because we paid for the $9.99 version and then you bailed on us loyal users for a greedy subscription model. Bad app, bad company, pad people!
  • Which caches are handicap accessible?

    By AngelOfSoul96
I’m a double amputee and wish the app showed which ones are wheelchair accessible. It’d make it a lot more convenient for me to know which ones I could even go to. I would really hate to travel a good distance only to find out it’s unreachable for me.
  • iPhone cacher

I just logged my 755th find and all have been using the iPhone app for It has always worked well and don’t see the need for an actual handheld GPS.
  • Another unhappy customer

Being that I already paid $10 for this app and can’t access anything, I think we should be grandfathered or refunded. Until then, here’s my one star. I’m not impressed.
  • Disgusted by the cost.

Geocaching is a fun activity. I’ve been doing it off and on since 2001 back when their server was a P90 and you had to log on a 5am if you wanted to use the website without crashing. Back then, their mission statement included a section about how they wanted it to be free for all people to explore the world and discover new places. You needed to buy a GPS, but that was it. Volunteers manage the cashes, and they managed the database. It was obviously a labor of love and nerds the world over rejoiced. They operated just fine on donations and ads. Since then I’ve watched them chip away at that original mission to the disgusting perversion it is today. As it stands now it’s $30 a year. Real business software isn’t that much. The MS excel portion of the yearly 365 subscription isn’t that much. All groundspeak does is list what volunteers maintain. They use maps other people generated. The app itself isn’t an amazing feat of coding. This app is useless without the subscription. Geocaching is fun and introduces you to new places, but not that fun. Especially now that there is no new content due to the cost. Now it’s just a bunch of soggy boxes in the woods that haven’t been found in 6 months.
  • Compass locked

Got the app several years ago to supplement our Garmin. Have used it off and on. Recently I found that there were some nice features added to the app and felt that we’d use it more often. Unfortunately, on my iPhone6, the compass is locked on N up. Very frustrating. The setting in the app is set properly. This feature used to work perfectly for me. Wish this feature would be fixed.
  • My favorite hobby.
