App Reviews

  • Broad viewpoints with relevant information

Market Watch does not pick sides. Bears and bulls get equal time. Relevant data keeps average investor informed.
  • Problem on iPhone X

The iPhone X has been out for almost a year. The MarketWatch app uses the upper left ear for a menu control on the markets tab. This conflicts with the iOS search or back arrow. The result is that you can’t switch to different views ( futures, rates) on this page. For some reason this doesn’t always happen, sometimes the menu select is lower than the search control - no idea why but - it seems like the people who wrote the app don’t use it or test it on the X

I enjoy the seemingly ever changing economic data points written in these market briefs that gives current as well as cautionary views of the marketplace.

I have little to no problem with the app except that every time I open the app it asks me if I like the app and to leave a review. Not only does it actually do it every time I open the app, it doesn’t take me to do a review. So I came out of my way to here to leave a 1 Star review because of this. Love the app though!

As a data source for stocks, this site works as well as any. I do find the reporting, analysis and commentary be be very thin and mostly without substance.
  • Too much click bait

Too many articles on this site have click bait… And too many articles are propaganda for the liberal third of our country. If publications want to survive they going to have to recognize that not everybody is on the liberal third of the spectrum.

I like the app and the MW website. However the app is super sensitive to the touch. The slightest touch of your finger and the page you are reading disappears, goes forward, goes back etc. It is very frustrating. I have stopped using the app as a result. Also, at market watch.com on my Safari browser on my iPhone I have another problem. I try to click on the top left drop-down menu titled “markets”, to see which stocks are rising and falling, and as soon as my fingertips touch “markets” the drop-down box containing the word markets disappears and I’m left on the home screen. I have to repeat this several times on my Safari browser, pull down, tap markets, screen disappears try again, arrrgggh. All very frustrating and should’ve been dealt with in testing the app before release. Please fix these glitches, MW!

Used to love MW, but now there are soooo many ads, many of which are those annoying auto-play videos. And so many stories are suddenly hosted by Yahoo first, then need an extra tap to see the rest, which is actually hosted somewhere else, so Yahoo can feed you one more ad before you can get to what you want. If this doesn’t change soon, I’m deleting this app.
