GPSmyCity is worth the upgrade. This is the best app so far for the adventurous, self-guided traveler. I am just discovering the apps full potential. We used the app for the first time on a two week vacation in Israel and Greece (Tel Aviv, Athens and Santorini). The city orientation walks and city walks were particularly useful. The walking apps work offline, unlike Google and Apple, and bring you through many local areas so you can start a tour from where you actually are. The text to audio narration made it possible to actually enjoy the attractions rather than having your nose buried on/in your phone. We visited The Bouzouki Shop in Athens and chatted with the owners. They were pleasantly surprised that they were included in the city orientation tour. A great vacation and experience.

I found myself in Venice (one of the most confusing cities I’ve ever been to) and needed to find my way around on my own. I have no sense of direction and often get lost in my own home town. This app was so handy. I was able to customize my route and see everything on my list without getting lost in the city! I highly recommended this app!!

Dear Sir/madam, I really like your app. My wife and I go to Rome three times a year and find it helpful. I cannot believe people who write review about this app and complain about the cost. Tell me where you can purchase a city guide that is this cheap and I will buy 10. Best regards, Dan Bradford il dolce far niente Sent from my Ipad

You only get maps when you upgrade. Just pics of various things in each City and brief history without the paid upgrade. You can get the same info if you just Google the city.
  • A Waste

I bought this while traveling. I was hoping for an interactive, walking guide. Instead, it was a joke. Save your money.
  • Needs a lot of work to be useful and workable.

The idea behind this app is great. The execution is another story. My main complaint is the childish and ridiculously imperfect descriptions of places to see. What would it take to make these narratives more informative and useful? It would only need to be done once and you could also let users improve them. The other complaint is how the app works as you go from screen to screen and what is available in each screen. Too many problems to list. I paid $18.99 for a year. I will not be renewing. One positive thing I can say are the articles which they provide. They are informative and useful as opposed to the app descriptions.
  • Worth every penny.

I just returned from a trip to Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Slovenia. I need to mention I typically HATE subscription based software. Just sell me the software and move on. After using GPSmyCity I am happy to pay the $18.00 USD per year. Our first city Split Croatia had a walking tour for about $35.00 USD per person. Since GPSmyCity had a money back guarantee we thought why not try it. If we like it we will save $52.00 USD. $70.00 - $18.00, if we don’t like it we can cancel the subscription and book the $35.00 USD live tour . Plus if we like it we can still use the App for the rest of the year. The tours offered for Split where very detailed (I think there were 4 in total). The map and directions worked perfect even in small alleyways. The best part you do not need cell service (no data charges) while taking a tour. The articles for Split also gave us some insight into the city. We ended up using the App in Dubrovnik, Kotor, Mostar, Sarajevo, Ljubljana and Lake Bled. As you can see we easily paid for this app for the next 20 or so years in just one trip. Does this app replace a live person tour? No. But is it worth the $18.00 per year? Absolutely!! If you are still not sure try it, there is a money back guarantee. PS I am not talking about the free version. You need to subscribe to the full version and they will not charge you for a few days to allow you to try out the app. If you do not like it you can cancel and never get charged. Enjoy.

GPSmyCity is my go-to travel app for all my trips for several years. The included self guided walks show the main attractions in a city. The plentiful travel articles in each city covers topics from food, shopping, cafes, bars, nightlife, museums and anything else one can imagine. The app makes trip planning and city exploring fun!

Bought on the quick while in Central Europe. Paid the $12.99 and still don’t get City walks until $18.99. Keeps prompting to upgrade. Wasted enough; no thank you.
