Dark Sky Weather App Description

Dark Sky can tell you at a glance exactly when it will rain (or snow) up to an hour in advance, so you’re free to walk the dog or run out to lunch and know you’ll stay dry. You can also explore the most beautiful weather animation you’ve ever seen, both forward in time or back. (Dark Sky is available in the US, UK and Ireland.) YOUR WEATHER, DOWN TO THE MINUTE Using GPS, Dark Sky is able to create forecasts for your precise location, giving you minute-by-minute predictions for the next hour and hour-by-hour forecasts for the next day and week. BEAUTIFUL WEATHER ANIMATIONS The same technology that powers Dark Sky’s predictions also allows us to make the world’s first perfectly smooth radar animation. Other apps show you a chunky slideshow that makes it nearly impossible to tell how storms are moving. But Dark Sky’s radar animation lets you see the actual path of the storm: how it moved in the past, and where it’s going in the future. PUSH NOTIFICATIONS Dark Sky comes with advanced notification options: Receive down-to-the-minute alerts before it starts raining at your exact location, get notified of government severe weather alerts (for such things as thunderstorms, flooding, hurricanes, etc), or even create your own custom notifications covering the next 24 hours for things like temperature, wind, precipitation and more. Even if you haven't opened the app in days, Dark Sky will tell you what you need to know, when you need to know it. TODAY WIDGET The Dark Sky Notification Center Widget tells you at a glance what's going to happen in the next hour and the next week, so you don't even have to unlock your phone to quickly check the weather before heading out. APPLE WATCH Dark Sky looks great on your wrist. Get notifications and check out the weather for the next week with the Dark Sky app built from scratch for Apple Watch.

App Reviews

  • Terrible support

    By tmcb82
Developers are not open to suggestions and the development of the app seems to have dropped off to only a bug fix here or there.
  • Finally a weather app with a nice clean interface.

I used Garmin's now defunct "My-Cast" for years due to its simple and clean interface and (initial) accuracy. This app serves as a nice replacement. Loving it so far! Update: This app used to be very accurate and reliable. This past winter the snow forecasts were way off, and now the app and widget both seem to have a lot of bugs. I have lowered my rating from 5 to 3 stars.

Did not like the app and deleted it from my phone.
  • Uh oh there was a problem getting a forecast try again later

This app doesn’t function most of the time. Thats an issue for a paid application. I would like a refund but Id prefer this app worked as promised.
  • Not so good

It is not working and I pay that amount
  • Difficult I think

It’s not an easy app to navigate. It’s a little complicated. That’s all otherwise seems good
  • No response

Nice app. But they won’t respond to a question for support
  • Energy hog

Constantly recharging my phone with this app. Location is never right. It’s always giving me my neighbors address. Accuweather does the same thing and it’s free. Not worth the money or power drain.
  • No Radar Coverage

    By Bimtechguru
Overall the app provides accurate weather info. However, one of the main features I was interested is the Next Hour Perception Notifications, which is not available where I live in Barbados due to lack of radar coverage.
  • Great interface; horribly inaccurate

Finally, someone figured out how to easily and concisely convey the weather forecast at the tap of a finger. Unfortunately, the forecasts are unreliable. Or downright wrong. I used to use Dark Sky exclusively, but it consistently let me down. I found I had to check other weather apps to find out what to really expect. I am rooting for Dark Sky because the interface is so great. I keep hoping they change their meteorologists and get the forecast right. Or at least closer to right.
