  • Good but frustrating

    By Tsarkatya
I have been using Duolingo for over a year and it has helped increase my vocabulary and verb conjugation skills. Recently upgraded to Duolingo Plus and paid for a year. Prior to this I had to skip by ads but I always had access. Now, although the content is increased and more levels to practice are provided, I often find I have no access because I have “run out of health.” Basically, this means when you make an error, you get dinged and if you make 5-6 errors in a day, you cannot access Duolingo unless you wait a day or buy health. Problem is that buying aka “health” every day gets expensive fast. So now I am paying for the app and just when I most need to practice, a fee or a delay is imposed. They say their motto is free learning but that is not how they have structured this. I am VERY disappointed in this app.
  • What’s with the updates??

    By TheReelJC
Great app! Fun to learn a language. But what’s up with the updates? Features are added and changed regularly which can be frustrating. No more bots in the new version? That was the most fun and challenging part! Lessons in the new crown structure are rote and repetitive. Great app for learning some basics and checking off that “learn a language” New Years resolution but not as good for progress towards conversation.
  • The app has problems that you are going to pay for

    By MasonJahr
The app (French) worked well until it came to the request to translate “alcohol”. Entered the correct translation (l’alcool) and told the translation was incorrect. Tried to move on from this but the app continued to ask for the translation. In the process of dealing with this issue I was repeatedly charge more and more money to pay for app usage.
  • Could be amazing

    By Tinlizzy55
Uses that new learning style to teach you a language. Fantastic. But...even if you do the free version, if you get too many wrong you can’t continue for a while until you get your “crystals” built back up OR buy more crystals. Well it gets expensive fast. And the paid version is super expensive especially if you don’t want to commit to 6 months worth of billing, and do you still have to buy freaking crystals?!? Just make straight forward apps guys!
  • Amazing app

This is amazing I can’t believe how much I’ve learned.
  • Forced to use Japanese keyboard

    By 3 summer suns
I despise the latest update to the Japanese section. Being forced to use the keyboard is a nightmare- and when I don’t know the phonentic for the character I have to google how to type it. Please revert to a option allowing us to select characters.
  • Miss percentage...

    By angelbabe1998
I wish I was still seeing my percentage of fluency. Can you make it possible to see the percentage again? Otherwise I like Duolingo.
  • My love for this app will never cease

    By Ice2248
Obviously Duolingo has had growing pains, and at first the crowns were seriously confusing to me, but over all I have used this app many times off and on. I think all I can really suggest at this point is that when you do a major update (like when you added the crowns) put in a tiny blurb about how they work, because I did not read the update in the App Store this time around, and I know most people I know never do. But that’s not a requirement for this 5 Star!!!! Please continue your great work! You’ve been there to teach me both languages from my cultural background, and I will happily use this app for a long time to come.
