Virtual Hope Box App Description

The Virtual Hope Box (VHB) is a smartphone application designed for use by patients and their behavioral health providers as an accessory to treatment. The VHB contains simple tools to help patients with coping, relaxation, distraction, and positive thinking. Patients and providers can work together to personalize the VHB content on the patient's own smartphone according to the patient's specific needs. The patient can then use the VHB away from clinic, continuing to add or change content as needed. Patients can use the VHB to store a variety of rich multimedia content that they find personally supportive in times of need. For example, a patient can include family photos, videos and recorded messages from loved ones, inspirational quotes, music they find especially soothing, reminders of previous successes, positive life experiences and future aspirations, and affirmations of their worth in their VHB. A patient can also collaborate with their provider to create coping cards to use in response to personal problem areas they experience. Finally, the VHB provides the patient with positive activity planning, distraction tools, and interactive relaxation exercises including guided imagery, controlled breathing and muscle relaxation.

  • App won’t open

The app does not open. It has an error that won’t stop popping up. I was really looking forward to using this.

It would help if it wasn’t putting my phone to sleep too.....

I am a therapist that works with youth. This is an app that I use myself as well as recommend to all of my teens. It is an easy way to recall healthier ways of dealing with overwhelming emotions, at times when we can’t think as clearly. As emotions are ever changing, this app can help someone in changing how they deal with life’s struggles. This has been very helpful in teaching youth new ways to live a happier life. I am still getting the error message though for not having Touch ID or Passcode enabled.

I really like this app when I’m feeling depressed, it’s a good resource. But be aware that every time the app updates, you lose any pictures or quotes you stored on the app :/

I have tried to install this app on two different phones and I keep getting an error message.

I like the concept of this app, I especially like the “distract me” portion. I was looking forward to some guided meditation as I have always been unsuccessful but with the Touch ID and trying to use my air pods, it won’t work. I don’t particularly want to try it without ear buds while I’m sitting near my 9-year old.

I really like his app. It helps me with a lot of issues. There’s just a few bugs and it crashes a lot and the pictures don’t load but overall, it’s pretty good
  • Crashes constantly

The couple times this app has worked it’s been great. Unfortunately it crashes most times I try to open it. Restarting phone, closing out all apps doesn’t make a difference. Very disappointing.
  • Great, if it would just stop crashing

I no longer feel comfortable recommending this to my clients because it crashes all the time, and now I can’t even get it to open. I can’t imagine how someone who is depressed or thinking of harming themselves would react if they could not even open this app.
