Medium App Description

Medium is made for you: people who are genuinely curious about the world and your part in it. From opinion pieces to interviews to in-depth reportage, photography, and features, Medium stories take many shapes, but always leave you with greater insight into the world. Our app features a clean reading experience designed to let you focus on the story (without an ad in sight) wherever you are, from your commute to your couch. You can read a select number of stories for members each month for free — or subscribe for $5/month for unlimited access. HOMEPAGE: The sheer volume of information on the internet can get to be too much. So in our app, we curate stories based on your personal interests and our editors’ picks of the best of the day. COLLECTIONS: Our editors package the best stories on Medium into multi-part collections that you can binge-read or savor over time. You can explore expert columns, multi-author anthologies, comprehensive explainers, and our monthly magazine. READING: Our app is designed to let you focus on the words. Bookmark stories to your reading list. Join the conversation by writing a response. Clap for stories to show writers your appreciation. If there’s a particular passage that intrigues you, highlight it for posterity. MEMBERSHIP: With a free Medium account, you get access to all these features — including all free stories on Medium — plus a select number of stories for members per month (the ones with a star next to them). If you upgrade to become a Medium member, you’ll get unlimited access to everything Medium has to offer: the smartest and most ambitious stories from the sharpest writers on Medium, audio versions of popular stories, and more. All for $5/month or $50/year. WRITING: For writers, we know inspiration knows no bounds — you can compose a new story on the go and then switch easily to your tablet or computer without a hiccup. Your Medium membership will automatically renew each month, and you will be charged $4.99 through your iTunes account within 24-hours prior to the end of the current monthly cycle. You can turn off auto-renew at any time from your iTunes account settings up until 24-hours before the end of the current period, but refunds will not be provided for any unused portion of the term. • Nothing to read

While Medium is a neat tool for writers, it’s a distinctly lame platform. Every time I open it, I see a never-ending stream of promoted articles best described as paywalled commies. They are not thought-provoking; they are reductionist and boring. Occasionally, there is an interesting writer or publication, but that’s an exception. And usually they are paywalled. In any event, the platform makes it hard to follow them. I am not buying Medium membership because I am the type to get shadow-banned or worse. Medium doesn’t have the SAVE button, which conditioned me to not save my work. That came back to bite me on other platforms. That’s probably the worst thing about Medium.
  • This idea and platform is amazing.

Medium is the channel by which I do a lot of my marketing-related light reading. It’s a great source of inspiration and thought from industry leaders or those who share a large stake in the field. Anyone digital inclined (full stack marketer, programmer, designer) definitely to be on Medium.

I love Medium- it gives me articles that matter for improving my health, work and studies! I feel I am in touch with the latest and the greatest in any field now! Their goal in picking the right subject is Right On!
  • My all-time favorite app.

The reason I love Medium is because it combines the intellectual diversity of any book you could think of with the comfort of being able to use it on your phone. You can find stories about anything you're interested in. The app tells you how long it should take you to read each article, which comes in handy. The most important trait though, is Medium's personal feel. Some of the posts are written by doctors and therapists, but many are written by normal people who just have something to share. It's nice to hear advice and read about the experiences of everyday people.
  • Medium is essential to Dossier’s growth

Our tech company, Dossier (https://dossier.work) is a startup in a world dominated by giant tech companies. Medium’s articles and recommendation engine give me, the CEO, an edge because the information is always ahead of the curve. To succeed as a startup, you have to see ahead of the curve that the rest of the world is following. 5 stars!

I love this app! It has great insightful writers that have helped me so much to relate to community and have a deeper understanding about healthy relationships (with myself and others)
  • Why the fee to read articles?

These are mostly blogger articles. Average people contributing opinions. I can get this , and better, on TED Talks which is free.
  • Excellent App for Insights

Staying focused to succeed is 😓 Yet Medium provides stories that make me think in ways outside of my comfort zone. Gaining insights from those who are where you want to be is invaluable!!
  • Love, but I wish text-to-speech worked better

I love the app and the content I read through it, but I wish Siri could read an entire article without stopping after each paragraph. I find I have to jump out of the app and open the article in safari, turn on “reader view,” and then have Siri read it back
