Things 3 App Description

*** APPLE DESIGN AWARD WINNER 2017 *** Meet the all-new Things! A complete rethinking of the original, award-winning task manager – with a perfect balance between simplicity and power, incredible new features, delightful interactions, and a timeless new design. HERE'S HOW THINGS WORKS If you're new to Things, this is the basic workflow: 1. Collect Your Thoughts Get things off your mind quickly with Things’ action extension – it lets you create to-dos from other apps. Or just talk to Siri on any device (“Remind me to...”) and import from Reminders. 2. Get Organized Create a project for each of your goals, then add the steps to reach them. For clarity, add structure with headings. Then group your projects by areas of responsibility, such as “Family”, “Work”, or “Health”. Review these regularly to stay on top of things. 3. Plan Your Time See your calendar events alongside your to-dos and plan your time effectively. Create repeating to-dos for things you do every few days, weeks, or months – Things will remind you on the right day. 4. Make the Most of Your Day Every morning, grab a coffee and prepare your list for “Today”: review previously planned to-dos and make quick decisions on what to tackle. Pick some more steps from your projects and then get going. The Today list is the only place you’ll need to look for the rest of the day. 5. Customize Your Workflow Use tags to categorize your to-dos or add context. For example, tag places like “Office” or “Home”, or tag all your “Errands”, or everything you’re working on with “Kate”. You can easily find everything you’ve tagged via filtering or search. HERE'S WHY WE THINK YOU'LL LOVE THINGS 1. It stays out of your way. As you start using Things, you’ll quickly notice how seamlessly all the features fit together to give you an uncluttered, focused experience. There are no unnecessary frills. No pointless gimmicks or useless controls. In fact, you’ll hardly notice the app – it’s just you and your to-dos. 2. Everything revolves around your to-dos. In Things, each of your to-dos are special. In a list, they simply show a checkbox and the title of your to-do. But when you open them, they extend into a beautiful white piece of paper that’s ready to hold your thoughts. Additional details (checklists, tags, reminders, deadline) are nicely tucked away in the corner until you need them. 3. It’s got a touch of magic. Things removes friction in magical ways. Take the new Magic Plus Button that lets you insert to-dos at any place in a list – simply via drag and drop. Or the ease at which you can multi-select and operate on many to-dos at once. Or the natural language date parser: just type “tomorrow”, “in 4 days", or “next Wednesday", and it will jump to all the right conclusions. 4. It’s got all the power of iOS. Things is fully integrated with all the latest iOS technologies: Apple Watch, Calendars, Siri & Reminders, Today Widget, Quick Actions, Action Extension, Handoff, and Notifications. 5. And much more... Everyone's got their favorite feature, it's impossible to list them all. See what our users love about Things – visit our website at: WHAT’S NEW? App Reviews

  • Not worth the money

There are lots of great list managers, for free. Unless you are certain you need something specific, try one of them. The reason for my 1 star review is that I expected to use this on both my phone and iPad. Nope. The iPad version will set you back another $20! I went back to AnyList.
  • As perfect an app as I’ve ever found

Easy to use and great customer service this app has it all!
  • Sadly, this won’t quite do it for me

    By JakkDiddly
This is a beautiful app and I love how it approaches tasks and projects which is why I give it 3 stars instead of less. But there isn’t enough functional integration with calendar to make this useful for me. I can see my calendar items but can’t open them or do anything with them which leaves me to have to jump to another app to work with meeting invites and other calendar items. This is a fatal flaw with this app for me, sadly. I’ve been on Informant Pro for years since that app integrates calendar and tasks so well. But have been trying to find something else that is more elegant and simpler. I thought this was going to be it until I discovered how severely limited it is with respect to calendar. Oh well, the search continues, and another $10 down the drain. Edit: I’ve come back again to Things 3 because it seems that I’ve become sort of hooked on how extraordinarily well it handles tasks. I’ve decided to try to live with using a separate calendar app along with Things and see how it goes. Hopefully in the future the authors will consider adding at least some ability to edit or even open calendar items in Things. Meanwhile I try this setup.
  • Almost perfect

Very clean and simple design. Only one wish: that “Today” was included in the “Upcoming” section.
  • Love it! Dark mode?

    By Maui Kid
My only suggestion would be to have a dark mode. Keep up the great work!
  • Too expensive

Works fine but the organization system can be somewhat confusing at times (the distinction between ‘Areas’ and ‘Projects’ and ‘Tags’ or the ‘Anytime’ and ‘Someday’ lists is not obvious). The functions are also pretty basic. This should really only cost $2 or $3 tops considering it’s just a glorified checklist app.
  • Great but behind in features

    By DoubleCount
Love this app. Great UI and really helpful to work with. It’s almost perfect. Here’s my wish and hope list: - Allow users to export media including photos, PDF’s, Mail attachments and other sources into Things to-do’s. - Collaboration! Make it possible to assign tasks to people & teams and remain in the Things platform - Better Share experience (format options, application compatibility, etc.) Otherwise it’s great!
  • Waste of money

    By apollonboo
If you want to use this app on your Apple Watch, don’t bother purchasing it. I’m extremely disappointed that it doesn’t sync correctly or show badges. Also, what!?! You want us to first of all, pay for the app for the iPhone....and THEN pay an additional 19.99$ for the app on the iPad? What!? Highway robbery! I want a refund
  • Best App Ever

Only app I’ve consistently used over the past year and it’s helped me keep my life in order. Worth the money.
  • Please switch 3D Touch action order

    By stetsdogg
Things 3 is a fantastic, wonderful app for managing to-dos and organizing projects. I would love it if the actions were flipped in the menu when 3D Touching on a notification. Instead of: 1. Snooze 2. Complete I suggest: 1. Complete 2. Snooze This will more closely match Apple’s Reminders app, which organizes the action menu: 1. Complete 2. Remind me in 1 Hour 3. Remind me Tomorrow Adding a specific time for “snooze” would also be helpful. Thank you for making such a terrific app. I look forward to future updates!
