Things 3 App Description

*** APPLE DESIGN AWARD WINNER 2017 *** Meet the all-new Things! A complete rethinking of the original, award-winning task manager – with a perfect balance between simplicity and power, incredible new features, delightful interactions, and a timeless new design. HERE'S HOW THINGS WORKS If you're new to Things, this is the basic workflow: 1. Collect Your Thoughts Get things off your mind quickly with Things’ action extension – it lets you create to-dos from other apps. Or just talk to Siri on any device (“Remind me to...”) and import from Reminders. 2. Get Organized Create a project for each of your goals, then add the steps to reach them. For clarity, add structure with headings. Then group your projects by areas of responsibility, such as “Family”, “Work”, or “Health”. Review these regularly to stay on top of things. 3. Plan Your Time See your calendar events alongside your to-dos and plan your time effectively. Create repeating to-dos for things you do every few days, weeks, or months – Things will remind you on the right day. 4. Make the Most of Your Day Every morning, grab a coffee and prepare your list for “Today”: review previously planned to-dos and make quick decisions on what to tackle. Pick some more steps from your projects and then get going. The Today list is the only place you’ll need to look for the rest of the day. 5. Customize Your Workflow Use tags to categorize your to-dos or add context. For example, tag places like “Office” or “Home”, or tag all your “Errands”, or everything you’re working on with “Kate”. You can easily find everything you’ve tagged via filtering or search. HERE'S WHY WE THINK YOU'LL LOVE THINGS 1. It stays out of your way. As you start using Things, you’ll quickly notice how seamlessly all the features fit together to give you an uncluttered, focused experience. There are no unnecessary frills. No pointless gimmicks or useless controls. In fact, you’ll hardly notice the app – it’s just you and your to-dos. 2. Everything revolves around your to-dos. In Things, each of your to-dos are special. In a list, they simply show a checkbox and the title of your to-do. But when you open them, they extend into a beautiful white piece of paper that’s ready to hold your thoughts. Additional details (checklists, tags, reminders, deadline) are nicely tucked away in the corner until you need them. 3. It’s got a touch of magic. Things removes friction in magical ways. Take the new Magic Plus Button that lets you insert to-dos at any place in a list – simply via drag and drop. Or the ease at which you can multi-select and operate on many to-dos at once. Or the natural language date parser: just type “tomorrow”, “in 4 days", or “next Wednesday", and it will jump to all the right conclusions. 4. It’s got all the power of iOS. Things is fully integrated with all the latest iOS technologies: Apple Watch, Calendars, Siri & Reminders, Today Widget, Quick Actions, Action Extension, Handoff, and Notifications. 5. And much more... Everyone's got their favorite feature, it's impossible to list them all. See what our users love about Things – visit our website at: WHAT’S NEW? This is a truly incredible update, with dozens of powerful new features. See the “What’s New” section below for a full list. Be warned that, unlike most any app you buy in 2018, this application is NOT universal, meaning that you will have to pay another twenty bucks for the iPad version. Sure, you can run the iPhone version on an iPad, all distorted, but after spending ten bucks on this app (which I’m willing to do, for a well-made app), to find out you have to pay twice as much again to get a version with a different interface (it’s all the same code underneath, it’s just a different interface) is a slap in the face.
  • In my 80’s Best I’ve Ever Seen

I have very little money I can spend now that I’m retired; took a chance that this would help me with my organizing. BEST MONEY I’ve ever spent. Each time I use it I learn something new and each time it shows me it is put on my lists EASIER than I had been trying to get it accomplished. This #3 thinks better than I do; it’s really helping me accomplish my chores and is so easy to use and rearrange...and I’m always rearranging my priorities. This is a no brainer.... I’m so happy and lucky that I purchased’s really worth the money. Thank you to those who thought this up, it is an amazing help.
  • Great, With hopes for a few enhancements

    By hockemaster12
Overall, this app is great and has really helped me tame my to dos so far. As others have said, it’s the perfect harmony of elegance and power. And from my experience with other apps, the appearance of simplicity and ease is deceptively important otherwise I tend to start to ignore my to dos. There’s a few things I hope they add to bring this app to the next level: - Allow to indicate particularly important to dos and have them show up at the top of Today so I can easily see them. - Allow to schedule checklist items within a to-do for different days, and make the checklist in general a bit less hidden within the overall app interface - Add subfolders - Offer a website-based version with lite functionality so that people who have apple products but do work on PCs (A.K.A. Engineers) can still access their todos via a computer during the day. Overall, this app is the best I have found for organization. With the addition of those features, the app would go from “great” to “perfect” for me.
  • The best

    By NIG.Soulless
I've tested many apps in this category, but they are not even close to Things.
  • Needs geolocation

Having geofence support so reminders are triggered when arriving at home or work would be the final thing to make this app perfect
  • Beats all of the other productivity apps!

Im Simultaneously using things three, OmniFocus three, Todoist, with a little google keep/iOS reminders/clipboard/I can lis simultaneously using things three, OmniFocus three, Todoist, with a little google keep/iOS reminders/clipboard/onenote. So far I have found myself enjoying this app over OmniFocus and Todoist. We will see which one wins in my final determination after they have all been givenA fair shot.
  • Life Changing

I’ve been looking for a simple way to manage the things I need to do in my life. At home, at work, projects, everything. I’ve read “Getting Things Done” and having physical inboxes and pieces of paper. I’ve tried using dozens of other apps. But nothing “sticks” quite like this app. It’s easy to use, fluid, fits very well with the GTD workflow without being too strict about it, and actually helps me get things done. The Siri integration is fantastic. Not sure if it is integrated with Alexa, which would be even better, but nonetheless. As a developer, I’m impressed and kudos to the team.
  • Great task manager

    By Y2Kbotz
Really great task manager, I’ve been using it as my first real task manager and it’s been fantastic. Simple and elegant, but still has a lot of great capabilities. Also works with urls and shortcuts! It is a little bit restricting in how it presents tasks though (like you can only filter by one thing at a time). My only wish is that you could make tasks not appear in your “Today” view until a certain time (like chores for home would only appear at 5 pm), since I can’t actually do them until that point and it makes me feel somewhat helpless and anxious until then. They sort of have a split between today and “This evening” in the Today view, but it’s barely even a meaningful visual separation right now, and those tasks still count toward the badge count on the app.
  • More watch options please

    By Bikebagger16
I like this app so far but I really need more options on the Apple Watch app. Please add the option the view other lists, like my shopping list, on the watch. Very often I have the need to view lists other than the “today” list on my wrist. This is kinda make or break for me. Thank you.
  • Great app but overpriced across devices

    By Lucasmt
Love the app and it’s simple functionality. However to add it to your laptop and iPad expect to drop another 70$ which seems way to high.
