    Very good
  • Please add Thaï

I started to learn Italian with drops 350 days ago. I am thankful as it is such a great vocabulary builder. Now I’m using it with my 6 years old who learns French and he loves drops! We really need Thai: One of the most touristic places in the world and one of the nicest people. The language and culture is fantastic. Thaï is a very important language and you should consider adding it. Other feedback, The app should sync with another free application such as Duolingo so that the vocabulary can be used in phrases.
  • Engaging Way to Learn a Language

I've been using drops for about three weeks now, specifically to leisurely learn Japanese. I have the "genius" subscription (about $8 a month--I think--for unlimited use). I've found it to be a fun and convenient way to build my vocabulary. In the Japanese section there are over a 1000 words available, so there's plenty of material. After introducing a word, the app gives a good mix of entertaining matching, spelling, etc. drills to help cement the word. For Japanese, there's two difficulty settings: beginner (only hiragana) and intermediate (katakana and kanji). There's also an option to have romaji subtitles. I've found the beginner setting great for working on basic pronunciation and the intermediate good for getting familiar with kanji. In the beginner setting, there's a hiragana section in which you can get familiar with all the symbols (which I loved). There isn't a section for voiced hiragana or voiced katakana, but there are other flash card-style apps available for the syllabaries, so it's not a huge issue. The app has a dojo section in which you can practice all the words you've reviewed together. I've really liked it as a way of gauging my progress. For me, the dojo always crashes on the intermediate setting, but when I contacted drops about it they replied right away, and I'm confident they'll fix it. Overall, I think this is a great app and I definitely recommend it.
  • Still probably my favorite one

I really like the interface and I think the layout is really good. However, some things seem not to work at least for Arabic when I put a word in the ignore category it doesn’t make a difference. And it repeats a lot of the words over and over too much and often chooses odd words to learn. For example I just did foods and there was probably 15-20 words for it, but it still left out a lot of basic words such as chicken or apple, which wouldn’t be as bad if it didn’t have random words like “mushroom”. The concept of the app is good and very engaging compared to other apps, but the words and word generation issues need to be fixed.

Of course, I am learning Japanese and it is a nice language. This app is fine and all, but the point is that I have to wait about 10 hours to learn for 5 minutes. Yes, I know that there are paid subscriptions, but I don’t want to pay them. Even if I do get to learn the language, all I’m asking is that we get at least 10 or 15. I have an idea? What if the regular is 5 minutes for lazy people (like me), which the app already takes advantage of. But, after 5 minutes the app could say that we get an extra 10 if we want to keep learning. This is just a suggestion. Or, you could shorten the time? Other than that, it’s a great app. I recommend it.
