Scrivener App Description

*** Featured in App Store Best of 2016 *** “The biggest software advance for writers since the word processor.” —Michael Marshall Smith, bestselling author Typewriter. Ring-binder. Scrapbook. Scrivener combines all the writing tools you need to craft your first draft, from nascent notion to final full stop. Tailor-made for creating long manuscripts, Scrivener banishes page fright by allowing you to compose your text in any order, in sections as large or small as you like. Got a great idea but don’t know where it fits? Write when inspiration strikes and find its place later. Grow your manuscript organically, idea by idea. Whether you plan or plunge, Scrivener works your way: meticulously outline every last detail first, or hammer out a complete draft and restructure later. Or do a bit of both. All text sections in Scrivener are fully integrated with its outlining tools, so working with an overview of your manuscript is only ever a tap away, and turning Chapter Four into Chapter One is as simple as drag and drop. Need to refer to research? In Scrivener, your background material is always at hand. Write a description based on a photograph. Reference a video or PDF. Check for consistency with an earlier chapter. On the iPad, open two documents side-by-side; on the iPhone, flip between research and writing with just two taps. Once you’re ready to share your work with the world, simply compile everything into a single document for printing, or export to popular formats such as Word, PDF, Final Draft or plain text. You can even share using different formatting, so that you can write in your favorite font and still keep your editor happy. • Didn’t fix Dropbox sync crash for me

I didn’t even know this was a thing until I went back to an iPhone. Went to sync with Dropbox, did all the sign in stuff. And crash. Says the fix was 10 months ago o.O maybe it popped up again on iOS12 and/or iPhone XS
  • Great App until you write too large of a story.

So I’ve been using this app for a couple years now, it’s great that I can work on my stories whenever I think of an idea instead of having to lug my laptop around. But lately, my main story I’ve been writing is getting larger and now whenever I’m on that document, it lags uncontrollably, I watch it type the letters. Took like 5-10 seconds to write one word depending on how long it is. And it’s very frustrating, I can’t find any fix online for it and I’m hoping that maybe they update it soon to try and fix that issue. I love this app, but I hate what’s happening. I don’t want to switch to something like google docs but at this point I may have to soon.
  • All the stars!

The Scrivener app gets all the stars. I’ve been writing like crazy since I downloaded this app. I didn’t want to lug my laptop around, but it was the only way to use Scrivener. I tried using Evernote to write in and then copy to Scrivener, but all the extra work killed my organization and productivity. With this app I’m able to write on the fly and it syncs to Dropbox, so all of my devices have the same information. It’s been amazing.
  • Upset and let down.

I’m sad that I can’t access my files on Dropbox seamlessly. Extremely difficult to transition. I thought it was seamless between all devices. I haven’t experienced a good transition to this app especially since I had to pay an additional $19.99 to download. Very unhappy till you figure out what to do. BEWARE anyone looking to find a suitable iPad writing tool.
  • No iCloud support

This app is retarded. If you have a project made on your laptop saved to icloud you can't import it from icloud. You have to put your project in dropbox and then sync it. How ten years ago. Get with it guys! This should be seemless!
  • Love it on iOS & Windows! It could use a spell checker.

I love using this app on my iPad and iPhone. I have MS Word on my iPad and notice that it has a spell checker and Scrivener does not. A spell checker needs to be added to this app! It's a must!
  • A great app that is useless

Scrivener is in some ways a great writing app, but it is terrible at saving your work. I’ve spent 2 hours trying to get it to save files to Dropbox, which it is supposed to do pretty much automatically, and all it does is save an empty folder. Saving your work and being able to access those files reliably is crucial. Without that, it doesn’t matter how good the app is, or how many neat features it has.

I was very excited to see a Scrivener app for my iPad so I could stop traveling w/my laptop AND iPad, but... Big but - the app doesn’t sync with iCloud or Files. This is a major turn off for me. I love Scrivener, but until that issues is fixed I don’t see me using the app for regular writing. Probably only for when inspiration strikes & I need to jot notes down quickly.

  • A productivity engine for authors

I used to write books on my computer and play video games on my phone. Except that I don't often have my computer with me, so that novel didn't get very far. Then I got Scrivener on my phone and computer, synched through Dropbox, and I can write anywhere at any time. If that were the only thing Scrivener did, if it didn't also keep my notes and compile my manuscript, it would be the most amazing writing tool I've ever used, but it does those things and more.
