App Reviews

  • Paygates and forced subscription

    By Franke Design
Free trial plugs you into a subscription before you even use the app. Developers claim “you get the chance to decide whether you want it during the free trial” ...this isn’t an honest business model, you don’t make people enter a payment plan for a car before they even test drive it and then say “oh well you can cancel your subscription whenever” ...stop trying to pretend this is ok. After an hour of setting up a profile featuring decades of my expertise and hard work, I was put into a waiting queue for the approval of “mixer”. The next day only one of my projects was approved, the other 4 I created were not. Upon opening the app to check, I reached a subscription paygate. They claim it’s a free trial but it’s a forced subscription, free trial shouldn’t plug you into a repeating payment...horrible dishonest business model. I immediately closed the app, frustrated that I’d invested time into something they could have explained from square one without trying to create an investment incentive paygate at the end of the application. Dishonesty. Poor taste. Manipulation. So anyways, like other users have said...now the account is displaying my project to active users while I’ve yet to activate my account. Essentially giving the developers credibility for free. Their response is “you can email us to remove your account” This is multiple red flags for a dishonest business with the wrong priorities.
  • Can't unsubscribe

    By Daria Mier
You can start a trial but there is absolutely NO option in your app how to cancel the godamn subscription. Anf I was trying to reset my password 5 times and there is still NO emails with reset link. Terrible
  • They started off bad...

    By Bobbrilliant
I put all my credits and info on this... whatever it is, because a friend asked me to. Signed up and then they tell me I have to wait to see if I get approved.... THEN, they tell you to join you have to pay. Well, I will continue to mix on Instagram. Maybe if you guys would chill on the membership until you grow more. Peace out!
  • Unsolicited emails

    By Charlie19Clay
I got “Tagged” in a “project on Mixer”, whatever that means. So now I get unsolicited emails that get through my junk filter somehow. That’s not the way to get professionals to look at your “service “ Anyway- then you want me to what? Apply to some committee for the privilege of paying $10 a month. Hahahahahaha! Yeah I’ll get right on that!
  • Rip-off with no support

    By IsItLenorGlen
So I get "approved" to join and cannot see who else is on the app until I give them a credit card. Luckily, I had a friend who showed me her account so I could see theree was hardly enough people to network with that would be worth it. I am very fortunate because I asked customer support how to delete my account THREE WEEKS AGO and no response. For all I know, they'll have my account info forever. If I can't get anyone from Mixer to respond within three weeks, how can I trust them with my credit card info? Caveat emptor. CORRECTION: it did not take three weeks to get a response. It took four.
  • Avoid this scam

    By T Jimmy
All the ads say FREE network for creatives. Apparently making a free account means they get to charge you. What a load of BS!! Now I’m waiting for a refund and about to call the bank to file a fraud claim. AVOID THIS SCAM.
  • Invisible customer_service

    By dannakla
I had a problem to start my trial. I did what the app said and contacted support and took a screenshot of my problem. They emailed me back once telling me to do some setting that was already something I did. From that moment on I emailed them several times and started new service tickets in the contact department but to this day I have not received any response. I do get updated emails about my trial ending that generate automatically but nobody called me per my request or even emailed me back to try to solve the problem so I can actually try the app. It disappoints it makes me very weary of doing business with this company you would know what they offer seems like it could be a good idea. Hence I do not recommend trying to do business with this company because their customer service doesn’t exist. Maybe writing a review will create a response from them and maybe one day I will update this review.

You're going to set up an account, then after the account is set up, you'll be locked out and asked to pay. You can't get back in to delete your profile and they'll keep your profile in there for others to assume is a active account. Don't do it! I still get emails of people who've asked to connect to me because they think my profile is active. Why? Because they've been tricked into paying to talk to people's inactive accounts. Edit: Haven't been on the app since this post, but it sounds like they've made it easier for you to opt out if this app is not right for you. Did not seem this way when I wrote my original post.

I’m a fashion photographer and I live between New York, LA, Milan and Sydney. Mixer has been incredible for me for connecting with professionals in the industry, and got me a lot of jobs and quality projects to work on. I’d never take the time to review any app, but I’m glad to make an exception here!
  • Excellent app, great community

Mixer is brilliant. I've been using it for a few months, both to find paid teaching artists for my summer program, and artists willing to do barter/work exchange on a 'passion project'. I've gotten more qualified applicants for my job posts (and made more hires) on Mixer than anywhere else, both for the paid and barter positions. In the process have made some good professional connections and met some cool, talented folk. I credit this to the curated, private nature of the community, and the good design of the app. Also, much appreciation to the Mixer team for respecting barter and work exchange alongside paid work as legitimate ways for artists to conduct business.
