  • And parents wonder why.

I’m here to say that this app breaks the trust with your child. I have a friend with anxiety, and the Internet helped distract herself from all that with online friends, YouTube, etc. She’s devastated and had to delete multiple apps *including* YouTube. She is older than 13, and this app alerts you when someone in text messages sends “inappropriate content” aka cursing. So for our one friend who does curse occasionally over text, it alerts them a *untrustworthy person* is texting them and they have the option to BLOCK THEM! Parents wonder why kids are depressed, they feel cut off and untrusted when these apps are installed. Parents also wonder why as kids get older, they become sneaky and try vaping and such and sneak out. They’re parents have made them feel so trapped because they want to keep them ‘safe’ instead of building trust with their child, that they want to bolt as soon as their old enough and try everything their parents “protected” them from. So parents, instead of blocking them from the outside world, try building trust with them so much that they can be HONEST with you and even learn from their mistakes. I know my parents never downloaded an app like this, they have my trust so I am willing to tell them what I’m doing. So here’s a tip, parents of the world: How about building a relationship with your kid instead of hiding behind a screen to teach them lessons.
  • Too bad it never really worked

This app did not allow me to monitor my kids’ text messages. It also disabled my son’s location services so I was unable to monitor where he was at. It also disabled the use of many apps and sometimes even text messages all together. Further, it stopped monitoring my son’s phone all together so he had full reign and the VPN did not control anything. It was definitely more of a headache than anything else.
  • Not Bad

This app isn’t bad. I can set times up for my preteen to be on it and X amt hours a day as well. I haven’t tried the Facebook part of it my preteen doesn’t have it yet. I am disappointed that having iPhones I am not able to get his text or see what’s on his apps. That is one of the main reason I got this is to monitor what is being sent to him and to make sure it is appropriate and no pretors are pretending to be someone they are not. Had I known at the time iPhones were not able to do this I would have went with another app
  • Doesn’t even work right.

As a teen who has this app, I hate it. It’s not that my parents can see everything. I don’t care about that, the closest thing to “bad” I do on my phone is watch YouTube. The problem is it blocks safe/appropriate websites AND WIFI! The VPN is always stuck on connecting, so it won’t let me use WIFI AT ALL anymore and it won’t let me use a real VPN. Then, it block fine websites. I’m a knife enthusiast. I like buying knifes. The problem is, almost all knife websites are not allowed. It’s not my parents, they’re OK with my hobby. By default the program blocks websites for a common and safe tool. But really. PLEASE FIX THE VPN CONNECTION ISSUE I CANT ACCES INTERNET!!
  • Great Tool!

My parents got Qustodio and I’ve been made fun of these two years they’ve had this app. I think this app makes me feel like they don’t trust me and that I am a young child with a phone. This app makes me feel like I am always watched and that makes me annoyed and frustrated that my parents can’t be away from me for an hour without having to be looking at what I’m doing.
  • Lot of things to love but

Scheduling and multiple children and more to love. But would like to see more granularity of the scheduling tool. Currently it is hourly. Would be great to see it with granularity of 30 minutes or even 15 minutes. I also miss having rewards. For example if it allows phone use 8-5 and I want to allow it for an hour that night I have to extend hours to that time and then remember to change it back. Same if you have for example 90 minutes use time on Saturday and want to give award you have to change the day limit and remember to change it back.

    It’s cancer
  • Not bad, but needs a single device premium plan.

Great options within the app, but not everyone needs the option to control 3 devices. So it definitely feels like overpaying when you only need to control 1 device.
  • Keeps failing

I have had to pretty much shut down Qustodio and now am looking at having to uninstall it. First It kept locking up at times when I has it set to allow access to the internet. Now I have removed everything except blocking certain types of web sites. It’s been working for a while but it’s now locking up devices again saying that the time limit has been reached. Upset that it keeps doing this and now I have to find a different app to use to protect my kids.
