Google Wifi App Description

The Google Wifi app lets you set up and control your Google Wifi points or OnHub right from your mobile device. It puts you in control of your network -- easily share your Wi-Fi password, see what devices are online, prioritize them for better performance, or pause the Wi-Fi on kids’ devices. The app also provides insights to help you get the most out of your Wi-Fi. Here’s what you can do with the Google Wifi app: • Set up your Google Wifi system or OnHub in just a few minutes • Prioritize a device for faster speeds when it matters most • Pause the Wi-Fi on kids’ devices • See what’s connected to your network and how much bandwidth you’re using • Create a separate network for your guests • Run a network check to test your connection speed • Make changes to your settings, such as your Wi-Fi network name and password • Add a network manager who can help you monitor your Wi-Fi

  • Works well

The app works well, but I’m surprised there isn’t a widget for it. Not a fan of having to open the app to, say, pause certain devices or turn on/off guest WiFi.
  • AT&T Wi-Fi Calling stops working

I tried various workarounds I found online, but AT&T Wi-Fi calling is not reliable with Google Wifi. After a fresh reboot of the router it will work for a while, but later it stops working. In Airplane mode, my iPhone SE can use WiFi for other things, but the phone app pops up an error telling me that I need to connect to cellular or WiFi. I switched back to my Apple Airport Extreme which has no problem with WiFi Calling.

Here on my iphone, I am currently online thru Wifi. So is my desktop. So is my mom’s desktop. This lame app can’t find the wifi device at all. It worked great for initial wifi setup, otherwise the app is useless. There are MANY similar complaints all over the Web. Come on, Google...

After three weeks it shows every device is off-line even though they are not and are working. Only way to fix is totally reset the app and the pucks. Pain in the butt.

The google WiFi app and WiFi mesh systems solved my slow internet problem and coverage issues. Everyone has coverage in the house no matter where they are located. I am extremely happy with this app and mesh system

  • Great, easy and convenient for Parents

Let's face it, there are lots of Parents who sit around on Friday evenings drinking Vodka and Sunny D because their spouses drank all the real orange juice. And, after a few Sunny D and Vodkas, lots of times that Parent will jump online to write a review or two. So, about this app, as we know, all Parents like to pretend that they are concerned about their kids screen time but in reality, they don't because the phone is like a freaking babysitter. I'm not one of those Parents, and I'm here to tell you that A) never mix Sunny D with anything, and B) this app will give you terrific control over your kids screen time. Pausing the internet is as easy as taping a button. You can also (sipping some vodka and sunny, hold on please).......... You can also schedule internet time so your 13 actually has to put the phone down. Get the app!
  • Not up to Google standards

Bottom line up front: The hardware implementation is awesome, the Google Wifi App itself is disappointing. I'm not a fanboy of any type, but I've come to appreciate my Google apps. I use as many Google apps as I can on my iPhone and iPad. The functionality, creativity, and hardwork they put into the development of their apps are fantastic. This Google WiFi app is an exception to that tradition. It seems either half baked, or entirely outsourced/created by a third party developer under Google supervision. It feels like an idea that wasn't fully realized but, has the potential to be much more. Get it together Google. Go fix yourself! 🤨

Please add iPad support! Really important for people who use iPad as their many devices.
  • I try to love it, impossible

The app is designed by someone that never use it. 1. Impossible change/custom the language 2. Not stable at all, goes randomly to offline and nothing change app mind 3. Customer support, don’t exist. Don’t try, no one answer, so why is a feedback option? 4. Time to time says that one of the devices is not connected to the mesh but is not true. 5. One time shows what devices are I guest and what in regular network, other times all show as in regular. Thinking seriously to put in trash and change to other solution that works
